Technical Systems, based in the beautiful city of Cape Town, South Africa, was established in 1993 by Theuns Kuhn. From humble beginnings of only one product and three employees, the company has quickly grown into a major global poultry and pig equipment manufacturer and supplier of chain and auger conveying products.

Starting in 1993 with a total of three employees, Technical Systems has experienced a tremendous growth phase. In 1995 the total work force was 15 employees and within one year in 1996, the work force doubled to a total of 30 employees. Four years later in 2000 we employed 60 staff and currently our staff compliment reached 150.

Our flagship product cemented our position as the largest poultry feeding chain manufacturer.

During 1999 we started with the development if our auger range and it took us almost 10 years to establish this range in the market. Our auger products have the highest fatigue resistance, a common failure in this application. As a result of this success, we branded our auger range in 2008 with the FATIQLESS Trade Mark. We are also the largest auger manufacturer, and we see good growth opportunities in the future.

During 2010 subsidiaries Technical Systems Inc. in the USA, as well as Technical Systems BV in Holland were established.

Technical Systems manufactures poultry feeding equipment, more specifically chain and auger conveyors, for the purpose of conveying materials in various applications.

Of the material we manufacture, 95% is exported to the international market – directly to major Original Equipment Manufacturers to over 50 countries around the world. They in turn do installations worldwide, that ensures that our equipment is used in each and every country in the world.

We continuously strive to improve the quality of our products and to add new products to our range by exploring new opportunities in the poultry and pig industry. Capacities have increased over the years to accommodate growth and to enable delivery in short periods of time, applying our “managing your feed distribution with flexibility” statement.

We are a Portuguese company founded in 2001 and we are located in Viseu.

We specialized in automation, developing systems in the areas of industrial automation, poultry farming, process control and home automation.

We have made a name for ourselves in the poultry industry from an early stage, through the innovation of our equipment and services, based on a specialised workforce designed to study, design and implement solitions for programming and automation of systems.

To complement our activity, to safeguard the Client’s position and to be aware of their reality, there was a need to be closer to the poultry activity, especially in situations that required greater control.

 So we went further and became the owner of an poultry house where all the tests were carried out in order to continuously improve the control systems, for Customer satisfaction and for a better and healthier poultry environment, conducive to good bird development.

With almost 25 years of tradition and experience, we develop customised solutions for each client in:

We have one of the most advanced cross ventilation systems as result of, research, development and investigation of our skilled team, without forgetting the synergy exchanged with our customers over the time. The system performance and robustness is improved with the help of high quality equipment in fiberglass, stainless steel, aluminum and polyurethane insulation.

Tecsisel system acts in real time based on inside and outside environment conditions, adjusting all the equipment control to have the better possible conditions for rearing chickens. in order to achieve an increase production efficiency and improve profitability.

This system also includes automatic emergency actions in case of equipment failure, as well as the most advanced, robust and reliable alarm system on the market.

In 2019, Thor Ice was chosen by EIT Food to join their RisingFoodStars organisation, an elite group of highly innovative scaleups whose innovations have a high potential of transforming the food system. In 2020, Thor Ice received a Fast Track to Innovation (FTI) grant as part of the EU's largest research and innovation program, Horizon 2020.The company received financing from Nopef (The Nordic Project Fund) and Nefco (Nordic Environment Finance Corporation), acknowledging its efforts in reducing the carbon footprint of food production. Thor Ice was nominated for the 2021 Nordic Council Environment Prize.

At Top Equipment B.V., we think in terms of solutions for poultry welfare and how it can be improved.
In 2011, the first H2H Euthanizer was introduced, and to this day, we remain very proud of the product.
